We pride ourselves on supporting our local farmers, seeking out the best organic ingredients, championing sustainable farming practices, and implementing a low-waste policy.
The vast majority of our ingredients are grown within 100 kilometers of Roots Kitchen by farmers and producers that we know by name. Buying from these locals means not only the highest quality, freshest produce, but supporting our community and preserving traditional lifestyles.
We also support a number of organic cooperative farms, which supply the majority of our grains, legumes, flours, and dry goods. All of our meats are also raised locally, free-range without hormones or factory-farming practices and our fish is line caught and hand-picked from a local fishing cooperative.
Roots Kitchen is always striving to get as close to zero waste as possible. Buying locally means using reusable bags, boxes, and containers when shopping. And trust us, nothing is wasted in the kitchen; from fruit-peel vinegar to homemade broths and stocks, we make use of every last scrap.
