About Us

Quality Is the Best Recipe
We Love What We Do

Our team is passionate about sharing our love of food and fun. We love introducing people to the region through their palate, offering the best of what the area has to offer.

We are a group of young, creative cooks, always in search of new flavors and ideas.

As lifelong travelers and voracious eaters, we have spent years gathering knowledge and techniques from all corners of the globe, combining this world of cuisine with traditional Turkish ingredients to create something truly special.

Catering to your dietary needs

Whether Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, or Keto, we offer options to support your health and wellbeing.

Authentic Tradition

Sustainable Ingredients

We pride ourselves on supporting our local farmers, seeking out the best organic ingredients, championing sustainable farming practices, and implementing a low-waste policy.

The vast majority of our ingredients are grown within 100 kilometers of Roots Kitchen by farmers and producers that we know by name. Buying from these locals means not only the highest quality, freshest produce, but supporting our community and preserving traditional lifestyles.

We also support a number of organic cooperative farms, which supply the majority of our grains, legumes, flours, and dry goods. All of our meats are also raised locally, free-range without hormones or factory-farming practices and our fish is line caught and hand-picked from a local fishing cooperative.

Roots Kitchen is always striving to get as close to zero waste as possible. Buying locally means using reusable bags, boxes, and containers when shopping. And trust us, nothing is wasted in the kitchen; from fruit-peel vinegar to homemade broths and stocks, we make use of every last scrap.

  • Support our rural community
  • Buy local, natural, and organic
  • Strive for zero to low-waste

Our Philosophy

Meet the founder

Rikki Roath

Rikki Roath, grew up in one of the coldest parts of the United States. A professionally trained chef, her mind always wandered to a world beyond the kitchen and she eventually made her way to the lands of Asia Minor over a decade ago. Becoming obsessed with the culture and cuisine of the country, Rikki went on to host several television shows about local ingredients and ancient recipes in Turkey. She continued traveling and cooking, going on to found not only Roots Kitchen, but Roots Adventure Travel, combining her loves of cuisine, travel, and the outdoors. Today you can most often find Rikki chatting it up with locals at the Farmers’ Market, traveling deeper into the recesses of the region in pursuit of even wilder flavors, and of course, hunched over the stove in the kitchen.

Our Team

Hailing from diverse backgrounds, our team combines our unique skills and working styles, always greeting a challenge with a smile.
